COVID-19: Food bank service update 17th March 2020

17th March 2020

Please note that our services across our centres are currently undergoing changes. As an organisation we have a duty of care to those that access our services, the wider community, our volunteers and staff members. Therefore, we are implementing social distancing measures to reduce interaction between people in order to assist in reducing the likelihood of transmissions of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

What this means at present:

· We will only be operating our foodbank sessions from the Wesley Centre (Saturday 11-1pm) We will be reviewing the situation weekly in line with government guidance, St Edmund’s sessions will be suspended.

· We will be giving out set packages (meat or vegetarian). We are unable to provide options/alternatives at present other than for allergies/dietary requirements

· We will be limiting the number of people allowed into the building at a time. But do not worry, this does not mean you will miss out; it just means you may be asked to wait outside until there is space inside.

We are conscious that this may cause increased numbers attending the centre, so we ask that you please be patient with us as we go through these changes.

Our service will continue to respond to those in extreme and immediate crisis and therefore we urge everyone in need of food support to contact local referral agencies prior to visiting our service. For further details on where referral agencies are please email [email protected]

Obviously this is a situation that is changing all the time, so we are keeping updated with government guidance. Please see our website and social media for updates and changes to service.
